There is always a sense of gratification when you are able to be part of something larger than yourself. I am proud to be part of a real estate company that truly cares and participates within the community. Last year our Keller Williams office, The Metropolitan, raised a sizable non-perishable donation to the Houston Food Bank. We organized a larger agent involvement this year to create the First Annual Keller William Food Drive.
The Keller Williams Memorial office with the Fudruckers Restaurant hosted the food drive drop off location. Our team walked the neighborhoods of Tanglewood, Riverbend, Charnwood, Del Monte, Biarbend and Briarmeadow. Each home received a Randalls bag with a flyer showing the non-perishable list items that the Houston Food Bank had requested. This two day delivery process enabled me to visit with many neighbors who demonstrated gratitude for our participation towards such a worthy cause. On Monday, December 1st from noon on our team walked the neighborhoods to pickup full bags with donations and dropped them at our designated location.
I would like to extend a special thanks to Fudruckers Restaurant located at 10500 Town and Country Way directly across the street from the Keller Williams Memorial office. Food collected on December 2nd and 3rd was delivered there for the Houston Food Bank. Keller Williams Offices from in the Greater Houston area collected food to fill the Houston Food Bank pantry for the holidays. Agents delivered 40,000 shopping bags with suggested shopping list to local communities they work, play and live.
After everything was collected our Keller Williams Metropolitan Office
gathered 12,000 plus pounds for the Houston Food Bank.
A few tidbits regarding the Houston Food Bank:
- The Houston Food Bank feeds 80,000 people each week by distributing food through nearly 44 hunger relief agencies in 18 Southeast Texas counties.
- 14% of the population live in proverty in the 18 county areas. One in five children in Harris County lives at or below poverty level.
- The State of Texas has the third highest rate of food insecurity in the nation.
